Breast Reduction

Breast reduction, or reduction mammaplasty, is a surgical procedure to reduce breast size. Many women with large, heavy breasts experience neck and back pain and find physical activities challenging. Reducing breast size can alleviate these symptoms, though results vary. During the procedure, breast shape is reshaped, and excess tissue is removed.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Patients can generally still breastfeed, but nipple sensation may decrease. Scarring depends on the initial breast shape and amount of excess skin.

Breast reduction is recommended if breast size causes discomfort or affects quality of life. You may be a good candidate if your breasts are disproportionate to your body, one breast is noticeably larger, or if you have health issues caused by large breasts.
