Total abdominoplasty involves the removal of excess abdominal skin and fat, along with tightening the abdominal muscles to restore a firm and toned appearance. This procedure is recommended for those with loose skin, stretch marks, or weakened muscles, often due to significant weight loss or pregnancy.
During the surgery, an incision is made in the lower abdomen, similar to a C-section scar but longer, which is then closed and discreetly positioned. The belly button is also recreated and repositioned. The surgery can take between 1 and 3 hours, depending on complexity.
After the procedure, a two-week rest period is advised, and intense physical activity should be avoided for six weeks. Initial swelling, bruising, and discomfort are expected but will subside gradually. Scars will fade over several months, and final results can be seen a year post-surgery.
