During the natural aging process, facial collagen and elastin begin to break down.
Combined with a decrease in facial fat volume, these changes can cause fine lines, wrinkles, and hollows to appear. The goal of fat transfer is to restore this lost volume in areas of the face, including the jawline, pre-jaw area, lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds, tear troughs, upper eyelids, and temples.
As a result of lipofilling, in addition to correcting missing volumes, an improvement in tissue quality can also be observed: skin texture and color become more uniform, and scars are reduced. Another advantage of this method is the enhancement of both the fat injection area and the area from which it was taken.
Suitable candidates for the stem cell fat injection procedure depend on the patient’s overall health and whether their personal goals can be met through treatment. Any patient who wishes to restore volume to the wrinkles, depressions, and fine lines of the face is a potential candidate:
Thin lips
Sunken cheeks
Lower eyelid bags or dark circles
Desire for only natural, live tissue to rejuvenate the face
Adequate recovery time after the procedure
Patients can expect a quick recovery from the facial fat transfer procedure, usually lasting between three and five days. Swelling and redness may initially occur; this will resolve within the first 24-72 hours. Minor discomfort may be experienced. Depending on the extent of the procedure, strenuous activities should wait between one and two weeks.
Lipofilling (fat filling) is a correction of the facial and body contour using the patient’s own fat tissue transferred from one area to another through injections.
The procedure involves removing a certain amount of fat layer from the patient from different areas with sufficient subcutaneous fat using a special syringe. The needle of such a syringe (cannula) has a round shape, thus preventing damage to nerves and large blood vessels. In the next stage, the obtained substance is processed, cleaned of blood fractions and anesthetics that provide anesthesia. The longest part of the procedure is the gradual injection of the obtained fat tissue in thin layers into areas of the face or body requiring correction (subcutaneous, inter-muscular spaces). Then, sutures are applied to the skin incisions made. After that, the lipofilling process is considered complete.
